Project SAARTHI
At Project Saarthi, we transform the overlooked into something extraordinary – giving new life to what was once waste. In Hathigaon, Rajasthan, elephant dung incineration is a silent crisis, polluting the air and harming both people and nature. Instead of letting this waste be a burden, we turn it into an opportunity. Look closer, and you’ll see the footprints of Chanda, Lakshmi, and Babu – the elephants of Hathigaon – woven into every step. Women once on the sidelines are now shaping their own futures. A village has turned waste into something worth holding onto. Project Saarthi is more than sustainability, it’s about reimagining value. Through handcrafted journals, postcards, bookmarks, planters, and more, we turn discarded materials into art, impact, and livelihoods. Every piece tells a story – one that begins in Hathigaon, is shaped by skilled hands, and finds its way to you. One journey, one elephant at a time.

During a 2021 visit to Hathigaon, Jaipur, our founding director saw elephant dung burned as waste. Realizing its potential, Project Saarthi was born—transforming waste into opportunity while empowering local communities through sustainable innovation.

Extensive research revealed elephant dung’s potential for eco-friendly alternatives. From paper and biogas to bricks and bioplastics, we explored innovative ways to transform this abundant waste into valuable, sustainable, and practical products for broader impact.

We collaborated with 21 Fools, a sustainable stationery brand, to develop a business model for premium elephant dung paper, marking our first concrete step in turning an inspiring vision into a meaningful and tangible reality.

With Laliji, we built a network of 60+ women artisans and mahouts in Jaipur, creating dignified livelihoods and driving meaningful social impact through sustainable community engagement, empowerment, and inclusive, purpose-driven economic opportunities for all involved.

Project Saarthi launched with its first YouTube order, entering both the B2B and D2C markets. Collaborating with BCG, Meta, and FTI, we strategically scaled operations, generating over ₹20,00,000 in revenue through purposeful partnerships and growth.

We carried out 10+ social initiatives across Jaipur and NCR, impacting 15,000+ lives through partnerships with organizations like Fischer Jordan, FORCE, and CAPED, driving meaningful, community- centered change through collaboration, outreach, and sustainable development efforts.

Recognized by TOI, mentored by Kepler Cannon, and a Top 19 finalist at Enactus 2024, Saarthi is now scaling into biogas production and launching eco- friendly planters in Delhi- NCR as sustainable plastic alternatives.
